Nara is a historical city that was the capital of Japan up until the 8th century. Nara developed international fame as the eastern terminus of the Silk Road that connected the Orient with the Occident. Nara City's historical remains, landmarks, and natural monuments were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1998. The 12th EXCON (EXCON2018) will take place at the heart of Nara City, in a facility of Todaiji Temple close to the "Great Buddha of Nara“.

Nara is situated at the center of Kansai Area of Japan, being adjacent to Osaka and Kyoto. There are two train stations in the city center of Nara, i.e., JR Nara and Kintetsu Nara Stations. These stations are apart by a distance of about 1 km.
